Still, a house for $10 is a bargain in anyone’s books – especially when you consider how wildly expensive the real estate market is in neighboring New York. And it’s only getting increasingly costly to buy a property there; in fact, the average sale price of a home in NYC has almost doubled over the last decade. According to real estate companies Miller Samuel and Douglas Elliman, the going rate for a standard-sized house was about $384,000 in 2010; nine years later, however, that number had risen to $675,000.
